Design & Supervision
Work where what feels wrong on site can go back into the drawings.
Ryo Tanaka
Joined after working in architectural design at a large practice. Responsible for design supervision.

My Work
As design supervisor I check that the site is following the drawings, and send things back to design where needed. I move between the site and the drawing board.
Why I Like This Work
Being there while something on paper becomes real. It can be correct in the drawings and still feel wrong on site, and being in the place where you notice that gap is what makes it interesting.
How I’ve Changed
I decide faster. Situations where I would once have taken it away to think about, I can now settle on the spot with reasons behind it.
What’s Next
I want more projects where I take both the design and the supervision. I would like to build up the experience of seeing what I drew all the way through.
