Design & Interior Supervision
Beauty stands on top of function, I think.
Yuka Nakajima
From an interior architecture practice. Supervises the design of shared and private areas.

My Work
I supervise the design of shared and private areas. From selecting materials to working through junctions, the work is to stand between designer and builder and protect the quality of a space.
Why I Like This Work
When I find a solution I still think is beautiful inside the real constraints of budget and programme. It is because there are constraints that a choice means something.
How I’ve Changed
I can talk about design in the language of the business now. Being able to explain by reason rather than by instinct means more of my proposals get through.
What’s Next
I want to make buildings that are judged well ten years on. Not peaking at completion, but spaces that improve with time.
